The First Bergey 5kW Wind System Installed in Nebraska

Picture
From left, are Marc Stevens Jr, Shirley Aksamit, Chauncey Aksamit, and Marc Stevens.
Chauncey and Shirley Aksamit of Bruning, Nebraska became the proud owners
of one of the first new Bergey 5kW wind systems, and the very first installed in Nebraska. The system was commissioned on February 6th of this year and produced almost 1000 kilowatt hours in its first month of operation. The turbine
is installed on a 60 foot stand alone lattice tower. Zoning in the town of Bruning prohibits towers above 60 feet.

Production Statistics:
First 30 Days:  970 kWh
First 60 Days:  1,723 kWh
Daily Average:  29 kWh
Highest 24 Hour Reading:  103 kWh
Lowest 24 Hour Reading:  2 kWh

Customer quote: "In today's market, you will be buying a wind turbine at current prices. Utility rates are at today's prices, but future rates are unknown. My thought is that inflation may steadily increase future utility prices. Buying a wind turbine today will be a hedge against utility inflation, thus making the retirement dollar go further.

We are extremely happy with our Bergey 5kW Wind Turbine which was purchased and installed by Marc Stevens of WindFarmer Power and Light, Chadron, NE. The WindFarmer Power and Light installation crew is highly skilled, very accommodating and left the job site clean. If I ever put up another wind turbine, I will again choose WindFarmer Power and Light."
- Chauncey Aksamit

Overview
The new Bergey Excel 5 is ideal for smaller and more efficient homes, farms, and small businesses. Its extra large rotor and ultra low cut-in wind speed give it exceptional performance, out producing all other turbines in its class.

Recommended for:
  • Smaller, more efficient homes.
  • Smaller, more efficient farms and businesses.
  • Eco-tourism resorts.
  • Small to medium size telecommunication sites.
Connected to the grid, the Bergey Excel 5 can offset energy consumption for an efficient home, farm, or business at a moderate wind site.

Inverter
The all new Powersync II power processor (inverter) is the most advanced in the industry and it carries a full UL certification to the latest utility standards.

History
Introduced in September 2011, the Excel 5 is the latest in Bergey's line of wind turbines.

Installation
The Excel 5 is most often installed on a guyed-lattice tower, which is available in heights of 18m (60ft) to 43m (140ft).

Tilt-up versions of these towers are available for sites without crane access.

Self-supporting lattice towers and monopoles are also available in heights of 18m (60ft) to 49m (160ft).
