    Site Assessment

    Picture
    King Canyon Nebraska Hybrid System
Wind and/or solar site assessments will provide you with site specific information about how a renewable energy system can help meet your energy needs. During a site assessment a trained assessor will visit and evaluate your site, answer your questions, summarize different systems, tower options, and the construction process.

Information provided by the site visit will include:
    • A review of your goals for having a wind system
    • A basic analysis of your energy needs
    • Recommendations for energy efficiency to help lower your energy needs
    • Evaluation of the wind and solar resources at your site
    • Recommendations for a wind, solar, or hybrid system.
    • Information on the best place to site your system without obstructions.
    • Estimate of renewable energy systems output based on your site specifics
    • A rough cost estimate for the system
    • Overview of the incentives for which the system may be eligible
    • Follow up steps to take to make your system a reality

While a site assessment may provide estimated costs and recommended components for a renewable energy system, it is not a bid nor does it provide a system design.

    Design

    Picture
Proper selection of an appropriately sized system can directly affect its reliability and lifetime.

WindFarmer Power & Light will design your system by:

    ·        Determining your electrical load.
    ·        Calculating the appropriate battery size, if needed.
    ·        Calculating the ideal turbine size and/or number of photovoltaic modules required.
    ·        Assessing the need for any back-up energy or flexibility for load growth.
    ·        Safely meeting all national electric codes.
    ·        Meeting realistic expectations of potential energy production.

    Installation

    Picture
Renewable Energy systems should be installed by qualified, knowledgeable people.
WindFarmer Power & Light will provide:

    Turbine installation:
_     Information on turbine/tower pricing as well as package deals
    • Foundation construction with qualified sub-contractor
    • Erection of  turbine
    • Final electrical connections with qualified sub-contractor

    Photovoltaic panel installation:

            Information on panels/equipment pricing
Installation of mounting equipment and panels
Final electrical connections with qualified sub-contractor

Local codes may require an inspector to inspect the completed work.

    Maintenance

    Picture

Life expectancy of a renewable energy system should be between 20-30 years if properly maintained. Photovoltaic systems are relatively maintenance free, while wind turbines require more frequent upkeep. Here’s what you can expect to maintain your renewable energy system:

    Wind turbines:

    ·        Annual maintenance costs of 1% of the total installed costs for direct drive turbines (non induction generator).
    ·        Or 1.5 % of the total installed costs for turbines with induction generators (utilizing a gear box).
    ·        Yearly inspection, to include tower, storage devices and wiring.
    ·         Routine maintenance may include changing gear oil, greasing the bearings, and visual inspection of the blades, tower and    electrical connections.

    Solar Panels:
    • Life expectancy of up to 30 years, relatively maintenance free.
    • Possible replacement of inverter at 15 years.
    • Visual inspection of electrical wires and connections every 5 years, especially in areas with known rodent problems (squirrels, etc.).

WindFarmer Power & Light’s trained staff will provide your system with regular scheduled maintenance and inspection. We will provide you with cost, options, and an explanation of all needed repair or parts before service is performed. We will work on all systems regardless of who installed it.
